In a world where German efficiency dominates the luxury sedan segment, the 2016 Maserati Quattroporte GTS arrives like a perfectly tailored Italian suit at a boardroom full of grey flannel. This is not merely transportation for the wealthy: it’s a rolling statement that passion still matters in the executive express game. Where its Teutonic rivals prioritize surgical precision, the Quattroporte GTS counters with soul-stirring drama and an exhaust note that could wake the dead.
Heart of a Supercar, Soul of a Grand Tourer
Beneath the Quattroporte GTS’s elegantly sculpted hood lies a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that shares its DNA with Ferrari’s finest. This isn’t marketing hyperbole: the engine is genuinely derived from Ferrari architecture, producing 523 horsepower and 524 lb-ft of torque that arrives with the kind of surge that makes luxury sedan buyers suddenly understand why people buy sports cars.
The powerplant doesn’t just deliver numbers on paper. Fire it up, and the exhaust system produces a baritone symphony that’s distinctly Italian, a sound that’s both refined enough for valet stands at five-star hotels and aggressive enough to announce your arrival from three blocks away. This is an engine that encourages you to take the long way home, to find excuses for highway on-ramps, to rediscover why driving can be an emotional experience rather than mere transportation.
Handling That Defies Physics
For a sedan that stretches over 16 feet in length and tips the scales at nearly two tons, the Quattroporte GTS moves with shocking agility. The chassis, developed with input from Maserati’s racing heritage, manages to feel both planted and playful. The steering is weighted perfectly, offering genuine feedback without being heavy, while the suspension strikes an impressive balance between comfort and control.
Push it through a series of curves, and the Quattroporte GTS reveals its true character. This isn’t a car that apologizes for its size or its luxury mission. Instead, it embraces both, delivering a driving experience that’s uniquely Italian: passionate where Germans are clinical, emotional where others are efficient. The all-wheel-drive system sends power where it’s needed most, but the car never feels overly managed or sanitized.
Interior Craftsmanship Meets Modern Technology
Step inside the Quattroporte GTS, and you’re immediately surrounded by an environment that feels handcrafted rather than manufactured. The leather is supple and aromatic, the wood trim genuine and beautifully grained, the metal accents substantial to the touch. This is old-world craftsmanship updated with modern conveniences, though Maserati’s infotainment system remains more functional than cutting-edge.
The front seats offer excellent support for spirited driving while remaining comfortable for long-distance cruising. Rear passengers enjoy legitimate limousine space, with enough room to conduct business or simply enjoy the ride. The cabin feels special in ways that many competitors, despite their technical superiority, simply cannot match.
A Different Kind of Luxury
What sets the Quattroporte GTS apart isn’t just its performance or its styling, but its approach to luxury. Where German competitors offer button-rich complexity and clinical perfection, the Maserati provides something increasingly rare: character. It’s not perfect in the traditional sense. The infotainment can be glitchy, some interior plastics aren’t up to German standards, and reliability isn’t its strongest suit.
But for buyers who want their luxury sedan to stir emotions rather than simply transport them in clinical comfort, the Quattroporte GTS offers something no German competitor can: the intangible magic of Italian passion wrapped in a practical four-door package.
The 2016 Maserati Quattroporte GTS isn’t the most logical choice in the luxury sedan segment, and that’s precisely why it matters. In a world increasingly dominated by algorithmic perfection, this Italian masterpiece dares to prioritize passion over pragmatism, delivering an experience that reminds us why we fell in love with driving in the first place. For those who understand that the heart wants what the spreadsheet cannot calculate, the Quattroporte GTS remains absolutely irresistible.

nah man a quattroporte on gravel would be mental tbh, imagine trying to read pace notes while that v8s screaming thru a tight finnish stage – your gonna need serious suspension setup to keep teh weight transfer under control on those fast direction changes. not exactly a rally weapon but that ferrari engine would sing like nothing else out there
Log in or register to replyyo this thing would be insane if u could get it sideways, like imagine drifting a 4 door sedan with that ferrari v8 lol ngl the practicality is cool n all but id rather have a single seater or coupe for track days tbh. havent seen many of these at drift events tho, prolly too busy being all buisness-like instead of fun
Log in or register to replyman that ferrari v8 is somethin special, ive seen a few of these pull into the shop and theyre absolute beasts under the hood. ngl the quattroporte is prolly the most practical way to get that kinda performance if your hauling around passengers, way better then what you’re gonna get in most sedans tbh. italian engineering really does it different.
